
Mr. Jeff Gomes, a
math teacher at Montgomery, passed away from a major illness January
8, 2004 in a San Francisco Hospital. Read
the Press Democrat article...Mr. Gomes was an excellent
math teacher and was well-liked and respected by staff and students alike.
Although Mr. Gomes had been ill for quite some time and had dealt with a great
deal of adversity in his life, he cherished the Montgomery family and gathered
a great deal of strength and support from the members of the community. Jeff Gomes started
working in 1980 for Santa Rosa City Schools. He taught math at Hilliard Comstock
Middle School and transferred to Montgomery High School in the 1997-1998 school
year.

The funeral service took place on Friday, January 16th,
2004 at Odd Fellows Cemetary at 1900 Franklin Avenue. A celebration of Jeff Gomes' life took place on Saturday, February 28th, 2004, from 3:00-4:30 P.M. at Montgomery High School's cafeteria. There were performances, a slideshow of images, and a chance for people who knew Mr. Gomes to speak. Read more about it...

Family and friends have established through Exchange Bank the Jeff Gomes Scholastic Memorial Fund for Montgomery High School. Contributions also can be made to the Fawn Life Rescue, P.O. Box 5, Kenwood 95452. The entire staff and student body of Montgomery High School send their
condolences to the family of Jeff Gomes.
